Motor Home Card

Post by paddlegal »

What kind of a birthday card do you make for a guy who is turning 65? Well this birthday boy recently purchased a huge motor home so it was a no brainer. This is an SVG file from the Dreaming Tree that came in the same bundle with the Vegas card I made my brother last month.

I will tell you it took ALL day and night to make this "card". There are so many parts to it. Thank goodness there's a video on how to make the RV. I referred to it frequently. I was up till 1 am making this thing. But it was worth it. Birthday boy was just speechless and crazy about it. Nothing like a photo to point out all the booboos I made. I learned a lot making the RV (like never again?) and know a few things I would do differently or better next time. It was very challenging but very fun too.

That is incredible! I love it with 'the lights' on inside. Does it fold up flat?

Thanks everyone! It was fun to make and now that I've got one under the belt I want to try it again but a more glitzy version.

I wanted a tea light for it and found one at Tuesday Morning yesterday but then I realized it flickered and would have made it look like the RV was on fire inside! So I remembered a very old, tiny Club Scrap flashlight I got at a Retreat and used that. It eventually died out towards the end of the party. I plan on finding one that doesn't flicker and give him one.

Unfortunately this doesn't fold up. It's actually a box that will hold a gift or cookies or whatever.

I couldn't imagine that it would fold up but thought there might be a way. Nice that it would hold a gift. That is so clever!

His wife and I set it up in an area where he would eventually see it. I'm mad that I didn't take a picture of him holding it. He came out to the tent where Bob and I were sitting with this hilarious look on his face. He was beaming and grinning from ear-to-ear. I'm sure it was a nice change from the typical "over-the-hill" type gifts and cards I saw.
