PAO's Favorite Crafting YouTube Video Channels

Post by paddlegal »

I was just reading the end of the Tim Tag thread and about how dull so many videos are. The link below is of Vicky Papaioannou. She is a card maker and art journal instructor. I find her videos are delightful, quick and inspirational. She typically gets down to business right away. I never miss her monthly SSS 10 kit cards and now she has added a similar monthly video of card making with MFT monthly releases. Then there are her art journal vids as well as techniques. I hope you enjoy her delightfully thick Greek accented videos like I do.

I'll repost this here. The series is called Rediscover Your Stash. The wiggly hands at the beginning of some of the videos are evidently her way of saying "hello." I just ignore it.

And of course we all love the Frenchman, Romain. Just wish my French was good enough to follow what he's saying, but his videos are good and he doesn't usually waste a lot of time. He also has an online store.

Just discovered this one. Her videos are fairly long but she's working the entire time on the LO. I like her style AND she has still photos also. This is Tracy Banks, aka Mercy Tiara.

I have a few more, but haven't watched enough of them to confirm that I like their style. I really wish Shimelle would make some more Glitter Girl vids.

YouTube favorites-
Shimelle Laine's Glitter Girl - timeless page designs with loads of design theory (will come back and post the actual name) Should Kelley Laine Channel

Missy Whidden - gorgeous mixed media scrapbook pages. Gorgeous.

Jen Schow - she has a great easy going teaching manner

Nicolejones911 - a young grandma, 911 dispatcher from Canada - again, timeless scrapbook pages

Tori Bissell - she's very chatty and sometimes I fast forward but she has a heart of gold - loads of great ideas for using scraps

Ashley Laura - a little bit of everything with emphasis on DIY embellishments

Irit Landgraf - a physician by day, talented artist at heart. Love her use of embellishments, paints, stamps, etc.

Inkie Quill (Adele Toomey) - an Aussie, kind of all over the place - some Project Life, some art journaling, some traditional pages - high energy

Cat Martin - I love her pages - another Canadian with a great graphic arts background

Pam P. I did watch two of the Stash videos today, ones on border stickers. It's two people, right? Sara Scraps and Kristina Sorge? Both had interesting ideas but I liked the presentation of the second one best.

Yes, they both do their take on the same challenge. There should be one coming soon on using chipboard, which I'm really looking hoping will give me some fresh ideas.

I'm going to be checking some of these links... but have to agree with Farley about Vicki's cardmaking.... even if you don't get the SSS kits, her quick ideas for cardmaking are inspiring, for sure.... and then her coloring is fun to watch, too... good stuff!!

I started with some of the DIY embellishments videos, and just about the time I decided to head downstairs and whip up some layered embellishments, I stumbled upon some paper flower tutorials, which made me start to look for videos about using some of the flower cartridges I have for my cricut. And then it was 10pm and I was too tired to do anything besides go to bed.

I've always liked Tricia Morris' instructional
videos, going all the way back to the Craft
TV days.
Even today although the videos are CS kit
oriented, the instructions could be used with any paper set

I wanted to add Nic Mackin to this list for a couple reasons. She is into genealogy and does quite a few heritage layouts, which might appeal to some of you. In this particular video she goes through the stuff she has set aside for these pages: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72jbvyGTjos But I like how she makes kits out of her stash and then works through them producing layouts - another good resource for stash-busting. I like that some of the layouts use contemporary photos, and some use heritage photos; here's one video showing the layouts made from one such kit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9t_9IhC8gk&t=441s
There are lots more videos on her channel - https://www.youtube.com/user/nicmackin/videos
I should add that she can be a little long-winded; for example in the layout share videos I skip ahead to where she shows her layouts, and don't spend the time hearing the recap of everything she used.
