January 2012 Scrapbook Challenge - Winner announced!

Post by pamcook »

Good morning and Happy New Year!
My challenge to you all should be fairly easy - Scrapbook a layout about a holiday. This doesn't even have to be a "sanctioned" holiday. It could be a holiday that only you or your family celebrates.

AND/OR - Use the colors white, cream & gold in a layout.

AND/OR - Use something from the Secret Sister Swap we just did with Christy.

You can submit multiple layouts for more chances to win the random drawing at the end of the month.

Pam, how did you know what I was working on? Wow-first day, first month, and first layout posted from me on the challenge!
These are all layouts of Christmas past. Remember (okay, some of you, not all) angel hair on the tree? And tinsel? And those ugly (sorry) skinny real trees? These photos really bring back alot of memories for me, and the fun we all had at Christmas! I still need to do the journaling, always the hard part for me. Thanks for looking!

Pam... stunning page!

Paula... way to start us off in a big way! Lovely pages. And yes, I remeber and loved the tinsel; I hate that they no longer make it as I always thought it made a tree extra special. Okay, and I liked to toss it up in the air around the tree to see were it would land (preferably on my siblings!).... ;)

Pam, your page is wonderful. I love how you combined so many different patterned papers, and stamping and it all comes together beautifully.

You, too, Paula. You've combined so many different patterns and textures -- I love it! And, yes, we always had tinsel on the tree, but it had to be placed so that it hung over the tip of the branch and we had to have the same number of strands on each one  My grandmother had a round tiered table just like to one in your second photo.

So, here's my page. Very simple compared to both of yours. I did a Christmas page in white, ivory and gold using CS Vogue paper. This is my niece.

Beautiful pages everyone. Yes, I remember the angel hair and the tinsel. I'd start out putting them on strand by strand and would get tired and begin throwing. My aunt had one of those tables too. I don't have very many pictures of those years but do still have about 20 ornaments from when I was a child. They bring back many memories every year when I put them on the tree. I was telling my 9 yr old GD that they were mine when I was her age and she thought that was so cool.

Sorry I hijacked the thread but those photos and comments took me down memory lane. Great job ladies. Can't wait to see the rest and maybe get some done myself.
