February 2017 Card Sketch Challenge: Background Stamping

Post by paddlegal »

We all have at least one stamp in our arsenal if not tons, not to mention stamp sets. Grab your stamps and inks and make backgrounds with them and then go all the way and actually make a card or two. Florals are always great for this but also go out on a limb and use non-traditional images...like coffee pots. or see how many ways you can use the same set of stamps to create different looking backgrounds.

Bonus points if you use Pam's monochromatic challenge or Nancy's tic-tac-toe ideas.

Here's my first card using an Altenew set of contemporary flowers and leaves. A simple die cut sentiment and a butterfly that I had already made in my stash finishes it. And then there's my coffee pots. I ran out of time tonight to finish this background but it will become a card soon.

Have fun with this!

Farley! So cute! (I need 2 coffee brain-hugs this morning)

What is it about Altenew stamp sets? I want them all.

Thanks Pam and Marianne.

Pam I'm having my first brain hug right now while I sit on a foggy road counting birds. There will be more in my future today. Both stamp sets are Altenew. When I saw that coffee set I went berserk. I can't wait to get home this afternoon and make more backgrounds. Many more ideas.

Marianne it really is very easy to make these. For the coffee one I used my Precision Stamp Press and stamped all the stamps at once! Love that tool.

I ADORE the coffee card. The other one is great too, but while I'm not a card person or a stamper, I have to say that if I received that coffee card, it would make me instantly happy, and then I'd take to work and hang it in my cubicle to remind myself to get up more often and go get a brain hug.

Can't wait to see what you come up with Debi.

It's grey and the forecast is more rain today...translate that to craft time! After I drop the Valentine cards at the PO today I hope to work on a few more background ideas too.

Oh my gosh, Debi, I also dug out some old SU stamps to do one of these backgrounds. They will show up later in the month.
