July 2017 Card Challenge: Black & White With Added Sample

Post by paddlegal »

July snuck up on me! Here's our challenge for this month. Create a clean and simple image in black and white then add just a spot of color as a focal point. Useage of washi tape encouraged. I have two more samples in the works and hope to have them up by Monday.

Love it Farley! But I'll have a Diet Cola. Is that Washi on the bottom?

Thank you friends!

Anything you want Debbie. And yes that's washi at the bottom. Floating saucers and cups just wasn't working so I anchored them with the washi.

I was thinking that the more open style image was needed for this look but denser and solid stamps work well for a bolder look.

Have fun with this. :D

Nice Farley, I love this card.

I was thinking I'd use this black and white theme, with a splash of gray, for a layout...cause that's how I'm feeling. Stay tuned. :(

Awesome Pat. Be sure to post it here.

And with that thought, if any of you would prefer to do a LO instead with my theme please do and share it here with us! This month's challenge will work for any kind of project.

Another sample. I love this set (The Ton - City Girls: Retail Therapy) and haven't really played with it until today. Not sure it's visible but I covered the packages with a clear coat of Pico Embellisher to gloss it up. And yes, I used another washi tape...yay me!

I don't make a lot of cards but if I can I'll interpret the challenge in another form. For this page I chose my final papers with this July challenge in mind. My interpretation: black, grey with turquoise added. At Farley's suggestion I'm cross-posting it here. The site was named Kinoomaagewaabkong by the Algonquin tribe, which means "the rocks that teach".

Wow, I'm so glad I can zoom in on this in Dropbox. So much detail to see!

And is that washi tape and rub ons I see on the layout, too?

That's a really fun card, Farley! And I can see the glossy coating even from across "the pond".

No washi, no rub-ons, ironic as they're some of my favourite embellishments - well, rub-ons anyway. The black triangles are stamped, and all the thin strips are papers from the collection.

Keitha I really love the color you chose to add to your Black & White! It just so happens to be my favorite.

This is just WOW! Not only does your LO fit in with this challenge, it takes it to a higher level. That background paper is outstanding and your color theme is drop-dead-gorgeous. Plus the subject of this LO is wonderful too.
