clamscrapper wrote:Paula, I started with the homemade plate. It worked great. Try it and see if you like the process. Then you can decide if you want to buy before you spend any money on one.

Christy, do you care what kind of paper we use?
I think that sounds like a great idea!

The great thing is that if you get a plate, I know you have everything else you need. We all have a collection of acrylic paints and Lord knows, you can use any stencil or a million other things for the texture/designs.
Roben-Marie has a video on her blog using one.
The best thing I learned was how to get the dried paint off by just adding a layer of paint and lifting it off with a sheet of paper. I love the look you get.

I'm very happy so many of us are having fun with this. Thanks Christy for keeping us motivated by offering swaps. Otherwise, I tend to put new tools away and forget about them.

I'm gonna give this a go too. I tried it once with a homemade plate, but I think I'll just go ahead and buy one now. You said it doesn't matter what paper we use, but is there one type that works better than others?

Yesterday I used parchment paper and it didn't work too good. I just used regular cheap typing paper, and it worked fine.

In the class we used 80lb (?) paper, slightly heavier than copy paper. but can be found at staples
I've used tags now, copy paper, book text and scrapbook paper.
Just mess around and see what you like. Even the thin stuff can be collaged onto heavier backgrounds if you wants.

I thought we used 110 lb in the class, but she did say anything would work. We were given a packet that had thin paper, a paper bag, some fabric, some tags... She also suggested we use old ugly scrapbooking paper because you can either cover up or tone down the design depending on what you do with the paint & the plate.
