Cards with bikes.

Post by katymjo »

The craft magazines in the UK always have a "freebie". One month there was a die for this cute little bike. It was about the time when Farley shared her "bike" cards, so I just had to have it! The cards are for a brother and sister who both have birthdays in December.

Great card! Bonnie subscribes to a UK card making mag, and I reap the benefit from the freebies. ;)

Thankyou, friends. That bike was really fiddly to put together. What glue do you use to stick the intricate die-cuts?

I have a tacky spray I use on them and it works really good. Then I use tweezers to pick them up and place where I want them. It's called Aileen's Crystal Clear Tacky Spray. I think I got it at Hobby Lobby.

Kathryn your cards are winners and will be loved and appreciated.

I often use a very fine tipped applicator bottle that I can fill with whatever glue I like to use. I have 3 of them filled with assorted glues. But a friend sent me a great tip the other day. Take a fine/dense makeup sponge and lightly dab it in a puddle of glue, then dab it onto the back of what you are gluing. This way you aren't trying to follow skinny parts of the die. Just be sure not to move the piece you are gluing to keep the front side clean. Make sense? I haven't tried that yet but it sounds like a smart way to do it.

There are adhesive sheets made for die cutting...sizzix makes one and Ken Oliver as well.

You attach to wrong side of paper prior to die cutting.

I like the fine tipped applicator bottle idea so the glue can be applied in very small drops where needed.
But I still haven't bought one so I squirt out a drop of glue on waste paper and use a toothpick to put drops of glue on narrow parts like the bicycle wheels. Sometimes the low tech way works just as well as the high tech way.

Those are great!

I like the adhesive sheets when I remember to use them before die capturing, otherwise the fine glue pens work well and my new trick is to place an acrylic block on to of them to hold down until the glue dries.

That make-up sponge idea sounds good too!

My die is all in one piece
I see how it could be hard to put together
