Festively Fabulously Fussie Tussie Mussies

Post by paddlegal »

Yep, Tussie Mussie! I had to find a holiday project to obsess over and I thought of making these cones. Jen, who is up on everything, informed me that they are called Tussie Mussies! For real. Just google tussie mussie cone and you will be entertained.

I am hoping to make about a dozen of these at least and then who knows what I will do with them. There's always the tree or hang from the stairwell. And just think of what you can put inside them for decorations or gifts Still working on that one. I have the CTMH Cricut cartridge "Artiste" that has this cone shape with a lacy top. But it's easy to make these without dies. Here's a link to a Martha Stewart version and I know there are more out there to try.

I hope I can lure some of you into this creative December obsession and join me in making and showing off your versions right here. These two are my very first attempts at it and as the month goes by they will evolve...I hope, into it's own art form as I warm up to them.

Oh, Farley, I love the top one. Is that a half rosette or something different? You must give me more details. If you want me to play along......

Lovely little delights.

By the way, excellent way to use up a lot of the bits and bobs I have around here from CS kits from WAY back.

Very cool Farley. Now if I can get away from all these snowflakes I'm making I will give them a try.

I know that tussie mussies aren't necessarily a Christmas thang but they always remind me of Christmas!
Beautiful!

Probably because they're always shown on Victorian Christmas trees, Pam. I love them, Farley. May have to play along on this one.

Thanks everyone. TMs are for all occasions. It's just depends on the materials you use.

Jen, that is a doily cut in half and pleated.

Hope you join me. I am trying to make a few more today.

I have always loved those, and you made some great ones! I like how you can make them as intricate as you want, depending on their intended use. So versital, for sure!

Here is another one. This one is a box rather than a cone and a whole lot easier to work with. It has flaps on the top to close it off. I used CS Blue Fizz for the tussie mussie. Made a poinsettia from printed red paper, layered on a doilie with embellishments. The "Merry" is the wooden doodad from the December SSS kit dabbed with Picket Fence Distress Stain.
