Italian Lakes Album

Post by katymjo »

We enjoy holidays by coach, and went to the Italian Lakes in May last year. These layouts are "on the way", going through the Channel Tunnel and across northern France.

Thankyou, I was really impressed by that window, and most people were passing by without giving it a glance.

Three more pages. We were thrilled to see the Storks at the picnic area, so close. People put up platforms on the church spires for them to nest on. It is considered to be lucky if a Stork nests in your village.

Well of course I must chime in about the Storks. They are magnificent! I’m also curious about the ducks. They look like Common Mergansers, particularly the red-headed female. I enjoyed reading your great journaling also. Wonderful trip and wonderful LOs.

It was such a surprise to see the Storks, just walking about and feeding the chick. We had looked for them on a previous visit to Alsace and just seen some standing in a field or flying over, until the last day when we went to a winery. There was a nest on the village church, and I think we were more interested in the birds than the wine
Yes, the ducks are Mergus merganser, what you call Common Mergansers. Here in the UK they are called Goosanders, and we call another species Red-breasted Merganser (how confusing is that?)

We had an afternoon trip to this little Italian town, and it rained! Thankyou Marianne for the "umbrella man" die-cut. I scanned it and used the shape on the layout. The background is CS Aurora Borealis, and the coffee cups from Brewed Awakenings.
