Gouache

Post by pamcook »

We stopped at the art store next door to Puchinella's tonight. I bought a pack of Reeves Gouache paints.

Any tips for me? As I understand it, they're like super-saturated watercolour paints? Am I even spelling it correctly?

You have to add an 'A'. Gouache!
Yes, it is much more pigmented than watercolor. It was used a lot for illustrations where the artist wanted a solid intense color. I've used gouache since I was in college until I just recently bought watercolors. Watercolors are much easier to dilute for washes.

That "a" makes the word look so much better!

I'm going to have to play with them some tonight.

Apparently without the 'a' refers to an area of the male body which shall remain nameless and forgetting the 'o' could make us very gauche. It is a very fine line we tread in the name of art!

You can google it yourself, Jen, I wouldn't want to offend anyone on this family oriented forum.
