Reinking an Ink Pad

Post by Sharonv »

I read this on that Outlaw Scrapbooking list (yes I joined!! LOL) and thought I would pass this handy tip on.

The best way to reink an ink pad is to dribble the reinker all the way around the outer edge of the ink pad, then make an "X" with your dribbles across the face of the pad. Then and this is the most important part--- take a plastic credit card or other flat hard object and work the ink into the ink pad. The idea is to thoroughly saturate the pad, not just leave a layer of ink on the top part of the pad. Otherwise you will get really "wet" looking imprints and then have a dry ink pad again shortly. If you do it right, a reinking should last for 6 months even if you use an ink pad daily.

I saw that on one of Tim's videos. I never knew that before either. Makes sense.

Thanks you all, I have always wondered if there is a proper technique, I just kinda squirt it all over the pad.

Me too, Julie. And that explains why it never really worked that well. I saw it explained in a Tim video too, but haven't had the need to re-ink anything since then.
