Nice job, Pams!!! So did you use inkjet copies? or toner copies? What kind of paper? I think it all has a bearing on the results.

I used a toner copy. I think that as long as you aren't using a photo printer, you should be able to get them to work (according to Donna). In my case, nothing changed except for the gel medium. I never could get the Liquitex to work. The Golden brand worked like a charm.

ETA - I printed the photo onto regular printer paper and then transfered onto Bristol paper.

Great transfers and gorgeous art!! I'll have to find some time (somewhere) to try this.

I just printed from my inkjet printer onto 20 pound copier paper. Then transferred to watercolor paper. It was my first attempt and I got a little too eager with the burnishing.

Ok, thanks, I'll give it a whirl but I don't have Golden medium anymore but I never had it back in the day either. I think I'll try on a variety of papers-canvas, watercolor, etc. Has anyone tried Lesley Reilly's transfer paper? Keitha is sending me a piece so I will try that, too.

I spent a lot of time today trying transfers. Not quite ready to beat my head against the wall yet.

I don't have any Golden gel medium so I tried the Aussie one. It works very well. Sharon, should you be interested, it is Matisse Brand Matt Gel Medium. The Liquitex that I have a brand new (large) bottle of just makes the ink run.

Speaking of colors, I printed my trial pics in black and white but when transferred they ended up blue. I tried watercolor paper and some textured white CS papers. Same bluish prints. Then I tried some sepia prints, they turned out pink! Gag! I wonder if the toner copies turn out true to color.

Next batch I printed in color and used canvas paper and the Aussie Medium. I got the best print so far on that but it was very delicate. But the colors are true to the photo. I'll try some more tomorrow.

Meanwhile all the rejects have been gesso-ed to be used again.

Can't wait to see your samples. I tend to use golden/liquitex interchangeable with the exception of gel medium. The liquitex seems to be a bit more "loose" for lack of better description.

Still no samples from me but I'm working on it.

BUT I have gotten Liquitex gel medium to work. I had some toner copies and applied a few of them on some of the gesso-ed watercolor paper that the other rejects were on. I read somewhere today to let the gel transfers dry and then spray with water and roll off the paper. I let them dry for a few hours and they worked perfectly.
So I would say if you have Liquitex, it isn't a total loss, save it and use for gluing and for toner copies.

I did both, Sharon. It is a very heavy gel. Wipe it up and wash your hands before it dries or you will look like you are peeling for days.

I just did another transfer project on a piece of canvas for Monica's cybercrop. Will post it as soon as it dries. I almost forgot to wash my brush (and of course it had blue something on it when I started using it so my gel medium had a faint tint of blue anyway). You definitely need to wash up right away when using gel medium!

Great tip about the liquitex - thanks for that.

Hope - I got the book text to transfer perfectly! How fun is that!?!?

ETA - just tried golden gel medium with a page from an Ed Hardy tattoo calendar image. Nope - doesn't want to work so I'm letting it dry. Going to try wetting it and rubbing off the paper. I'll let you know.
