Something new

Post by Debbie J »

Well, I bought a sewing machine, all because of Christy and her sewing on layouts, now I'm such a bad sewer ( is that a word?and is it spelled correct? Looks like sewer, the stinky kind.....) that when I was in 4-H I begged and bribed my Mom to make my apron! It's a real generic thing and only paid 57$$ for it @ Overstock.com and had free shipping, too. Figured for that price I couldn't go too wrong, heck I spend that @ a visit to Donna Downy, Blue Moon, etc!

So I am sure I will e calling out for help!

That darn Christy............... ;)

Good thing about sewing on your projects... no seam measurements!
way easier to sew on paper than make clothes

Last time I tried paper sewing the tension was horrible. (A real nail biter! 8-) ) I couldn't seem to get it adjusted no mater which way I tried to set it. I'll have to pull it out and try again.

Oh, you'll have fun! I just did (almost finished, waiting for a "tree" stamp to get here that I ordered) a Christmas card and sewed the edges, I use a machine that my mom gave me, it's probably 50 years old :) and folds up in itself in a table, still works great, it's a Singer :) Have fun with it!

I never get the tension correct Pam. Doesn't stop me. As long as the loopies are on the back, I don't care.
Have fun with it Debbie!

Loopies? Is that the official name for the mangled bobbin mess that I get on the back of my seams?

Have fun Deb! I don't have my machine out on a regular basis, so sewing on paper doesn't occur to me very often. But I'm contemplating getting Nicole a starter machine for xmas and teaching her how to use that. And of course, if THAT stays out, I'm likely to use that on paper rather than my Bernina. ;)
