Re: Inspiration in 2012

I did the warm up from DW video today and it really was cool. I also posted about it in the organizing thread. I worked on 15 different AJ pages at some stage. I made some backgrounds, added to some already started ones, used stencils, added images and words, and enhanced or finished some already in progress. I also worked on two tags. I only used sprays and actually used some of the new ones I just bought. After working on my room for several days, it just felt good to sit down and play. Love, love my new space and got a long, long way to go.

I've used TP for paper molds on stamps before but never thought about doing them through the folders. Will give it a try though. Anyone done it yet? What were your results? Paula, do you think it was too wet or not enough layers?

Can't wait to see what's in tomorrow's video.

If I try this one, I'll take it to work and run it through the Sizzix there. Not going to try water in the Vagabond! I did think it was a neat idea, but I'm wondering if I can get the same result using water color printer paper. Might be worth a try tonight.

I tried the TP ATCs. On all but one, the toilet paper layers started to separate after I Utee'd them. It's a cool technique, but I would think you can get the same effect with heavy white paper like watercolor stock.

Here's one finished atc and three backgrounds. You can't see it in the scan, but they're very shiny.

I thought maybe a paper towel around the embossing folder would be better than more TP.

Update:
A whole paper towel was too thick so I cut it in half. Quite a lot of water came out but I didn't press out much of the water after wetting it. Next time I would press it in a cloth towel before embossing. I also embossed the wet paper towel pieces that I had around the folder. It wasn't thick enough. I can see where you wouldn't want to try this in a Vagabond, too wet.

Oh man!
Let me just say, TP is the last think I thought I'd ever glimmer mist and it was so worth every second! Of course I cut my little piece entirely too small but it is just so danged cool.
You all have to try this...

Paula - I used 10 layers of Scott TP and it did okay. I used a very tight-pattered EF though...

Those are really pretty. I'm going to take my only embossing folder into work with me tomorrow and try it. She did say you could use half water and half glue if you want it to be sturdier. That would help eliminate the separation of the plies.

Flippin' stupid website. Today I can't get into the site to see the videos. On firefox, it says the password is invalid. On IE, it won't even let me try to enter the password.

You didn't miss anything today, just the gal saying not to be afraid of the blank page (art journal) and to go for it and create beautiful art. No demo at all.

I concur. This morning's video was almost depressing in its delivery.
