Bridge construction - progress

Post by nchoney »

So.... I haven't posted a photo of the progress being made at the bridge... so here ya go... for those of you who came down in May and saw the one weird looking thing on top of the big piling thingy.... it grew... and a couple more grew too... this is what it's looking like at the south end... and there's been lots of work done at the northern end, too... it's just lower and not as dramatic :-)

I think the slope upwards will start further south than it currently is... but apparently, much of the bridge will be higher... the north side is just a little higher than the current bridge height

Oh Lord. I'm not sure I'll be able to drive across that bridge! It's probably not a good idea to take a valium before driving across?

Of course, you can drive across it--but not take the Valium. It's not that high, you've been on higher bridges than that. What a great view there will be!

Maybe I'll go south and take ferries to and from Ocracoke. Man, I hate bridges.

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel is one of the highlights of our drive to and from OBX. Dee and I stop each way at the restaurant on the bridge and have soft shell crab sandwiches for lunch!

Pam you know I am much better at driving across bridges like that than being a passenger. That way I really have to keep my eyes on the road and not look over the side. I'll drive it anytime!
