Do we have anyone in Texas or Louisiana?

Post by nchoney »

Harvey hit super hard down there.... I looked briefly at some of the news reports but it's giving me the heebie-jeebies so I had to stop... do we have any group members... or family members or friends down there??

If so.... sending lots of prayers for them and for all those folks we don't know, too. This storm built up strength really quickly and has hit them with a ton of rain. So sad.

I was in San Antonio a few years ago and the river runs through town.... it's bordered by businesses and everything looked so lovely... I can't imagine how it looks if it's a raging river of floodwater now.

I have a few friends that live in the area. So far they all seem to be fine. They devastation there is horrible. Many prayers for their safety.

Looks like our coast is now on storm watch. Praying that system does not form.

Saw a very short message on FB from my cousin that's he is safe. Nothing more though. Watching the news just now I was stunned at all the boats motoring down a wide street. It looked like a marina.

Keeping good thoughts for everyone.

I'm hoping all the east coast gets out of this other thing is some rain. We just don't need any big storm.

Me too Debbie. Watching it closely. Going right over Morehead
tomorrow morning and then headed towards you. We sure don't need any storm damage. Praying for it to move further out to sea with no land impact.

I have friends and family in Texas, but the closest to the trouble spot is a friend in Austin and another who is stuck in Houston with her daughter. She said so far so good - they have power and are dry. The photos coming in are terrible. Having been through this last September, my heart goes out to all of those in the flood areas.

I have family who use to live in Houston. They always talked about how even the smallest amount of rain would bring the city to a standstill because the ground did not absorb water like it does other places. They would talk about driving home from work and hitting a flooded spot, taking a different route, hitting another flooded spot... it could take hours to get home. I can't imagine what all this rain is doing to them.

I don't understand why when it hits the Carolina's it blows on thru. We usually get the storm part in WV, but here it just stalled. They even knew in advance it was going to stall???

We have had rain overnight but nothing to compare with what they are going through in Texas/Louisiana. Glad that it didn't amount to anything here.
