2011 Technique Tags

Post by mpizzazz »

Today I did small tags with the main technique from each of the 2011 tags. I hope over the next year to do something similar for the previous years' tags so I have samples of many techniques.

I wish you could see them in more detail. The one that surprised me the most was #2. I used the embossed paper from Steppin' Out, the black with purple raised words. After doing the white wash then reinking it, you'd hardly recognize it....and I think that's a good thing!
And the key in #4.. I finally got that silver and brown mercury glass look that Tim did in the bonus tag of the reindeer for that one.

Thanks for your kind words! I was just going for getting the technique done successfully, I didn't care what any of them looked like as they aren't meant to be finished tags.
I wrote on the back how to do it or what I substituted to get the effect. I hope it will be a good reference that I will use!!

Great reference pieces, Marianne. I envy you gals who get right on this stuff. I'm still at the "thinking about it" stage. The optimistic side of me says I will make the tags using his techniques on Valentine themed tags. The realistic side thinks I'll just gaze upon them for a year.

In my defense, last year I was able to finish NINE of them. That was an all time high for me.

Jen, I tried very hard not to think too much about these reference tags or to make them look Christmasy. I just wanted to note how to do the main technique of each tag before I forgot about it. If it was on an embellishment like the shrink plastic, tape transfer or the glassine leaves, I did that; otherwise, just backgrounds.
I had two or three going at once. As something was drying, I started another one. Just do it!
