May 2014 Card Sketch Challenge

Post by ScrappinJen »

As usual, a day late and a dollar short. And no sample prepared for you. But here's a sketch I grabbed from My Favorite Things.

http://www.mftstamps.com/blog/stamp-and ... ketch-174/

If you want to try to win a prize over there, you can submit your card by May 6 at noon. I think you are required to use something of theirs (stamp, ink, etc.). But it's a nice sketch to play with either way. Hope you enjoy.

Good one Jen! I never get around to making a card for MFT but maybe I might make one in time…or not, LOL. Might try it tonight.

So another goal I've set for myself is to make a card or two on Mondays. I've been focusing on my scrapbook stuff but I'm falling behind on cards now. So today was my first Make A Card Monday and it really wasn't very successful. It's also cleaning day around here and I think I was just out of gas by the time I got to the cards. But I really needed one to send to my Mom for Mother's Day. Not the greatest card but it does somewhat follow the sketch. So I hope she likes it. I've also posted it over at My Favorite Things. I never win a darn thing over there but I did use their stamps and dies to make the heart balloons. Thanks for following me.

I think your Mom will love it! The colors are great, the embossed piece is a great addition. Now, I need to put my thinking cap on.

Jen your mom will be thrilled with your card. Love the balloon idea.

So here is my interpretation of Jen's sketch. I am currently taking the OCC "Watercolor Cards" and I'm having a great time playing with a variety of watercolors and techniques. I used some leftover pieces to create this card. The hexagons are CTMH stamps "Honeycomb Flair". The hexagons were first punched out with a Fiskars punch (that happens to be a good size match for the stamps), from one of my watercolored papers. Then applied to another watercolored background. I know this is a bit off from Jen's sketches but this is where the creative muse sent me. LOL.

A larger view can be seen on my blog link below.

Thanks everyone!

Pam I have 3 sizes of the Fiskars' hexagon punch and this was the medium one. I debated about acquiring them but now I am so glad I did. I picked them up one at a time with JoAnn's coupons. I was just lucky that the sizes work well with the stamps.

Okay, just to drum up some business here, I made another card for this sketch. Hope you like it and join in soon.

I am copying things made by Farley and Nancy in their Watercolor for Card Makers on Onlinecardclasses.com. Since I am so busy in my Hello, Story class, I didn't sign up but I'm doing my best to learn by imitation. I used Inktense pencils, Gelatos and Distress Inks on this card. Thanks for looking.
