Studio Calico July kit
Re: Studio Calico July kit
Laurie - there are still many choices. I recently joined Hip Kit Club and, on the spur of the moment, joined Studio Calico this month. For years, I didn't need a monthly kit since I could jump in the car and go spend my paycheck at Archivers. Now they're gone and I was spending too much money on shipping costs. I like HKC because they use products from different companies and they only ask for a 3 month commitment. Over a few months, I watched Studio Calico's offerings and decided I liked their style well-enough to commit to 6 months. My style is evolving so what I am buying now has really freshened up my stash and I'm energized about scrapbooking again. I feel like both offer products I can easily use for photos of Joel & me or the grandkids. Another great option is to buy some of the kits offered by companies like Carta Bella or Echo Park - especially if you like theme-specific papers and embellishments. If I had all granddaughters, I'd join Swirleydos. Their kits are beautifully feminine. I belonged to C'est Magnifque for a while because they offer products from other countries. Once I realized all their kits were very feminine/vintagey and I wasn't using them, I unsubscribed.
So - I lurked for several months to be sure that a) I really needed a kit club, b) I would use their products, and c) their kits were a good value.
Have fun checking them out!

Marianne, love that kit you pointed out. Thataway.
Pam, I went to http://www.hip2bsquare.com/march-2014-kit to see what it's like. Is March their most recent kit?

Good idea to get the stencil, Jen. I like that idea then you can use which region/states are relevant for a particular trip and it won't be too small.ScrappinJen wrote:Speaking of maps, I just bought this set from Unity. It's perfect for me since I don't leave the U.S.

I also bought a U.S. map stencil by Julie Balzer. I'm on a map roll.
Studio Calico's kits are cool but I don't need so much stuff and all the add-ons make my head spin. I guess I'm getting old and easy to confuse.
P. S. By the way, I'm sure I bought that set on sale. Didn't pay $29 for it. I've learned Unity has frequent sales so I never pay full price for their stuff.

Oh, fine, Pam, now you've done it.
Love their kits.
Right now I'm already in three monthly kits...so someone has to go before I could join another.
It's a Sophie's Choice!!!

Re: Studio Calico July kit
It was a good fit for me - products from several different companies and I feel like you get good value.
This weekend I'm going to use a whole kit. Noble plan, right?

So the question is "which club is the best for the $"? If you could choose 1 club kit company which one would it be?

Laurie - I really liked Scrapbook Generations monthly kits. You get items from many different companies, which will help ease you back into what's out now, and they include sketches for the LOs. I always printed out the color photos for each month because I needed the visuals to go with the sketches. (Link for the finished LOs is below.) I joined the Super Sketch club, which was 10 LOs per month. I generally had enough leftovers to do several other pages by adding them to the card stock that I already have. They also have a monthly magazine that has lots of sketches that can be applied to whatever you have on hand. The best thing is that the majority of the LOs include more than 2 photos per page and use different sizes of photos, so you end up getting a lot done.
OK, that's my two cents worth.

Very nice and very tempting.
I subscribed to CD years ago. They were very heavy in the odd embellishments then (and for the life of me, I can't think of a single example to give you right now). I hear a lot of good things about them again.
Does anyone here subscribe to Cocoa Daisy?
