back in the game
back in the game
I, too, got a page scrapped today - and it feels significant because the last time I did a 12x12 layout was back in February. But I'm between work projects at the moment, so hope to get a few more done this year. This page was built using a store page kit which I changed up a bit; the photos are from my visit with Pat after Scramp Camp last year.

Re: back in the game
I will ditto this. I to this day have trouble doing a layout without mats under my photos. Maybe that is something I can stop doing soon.

But, Cheryl, the photos are grounded by the dark (black?) mat behind all three of the photos. So, there is a mat there to separate the photos from the busy background paper.
Great observation, Jill! I was so enthralled by the banner out of the map paper that I totally missed the 'town'!

I find it hard to not use mats too.

Ooh - congrats on getting back in the game! And I love that layout.

And I rarely mat my photos, but somehow there was so much going on on this page that these ones definitely needed to be grounded.troublesmom wrote:I to this day have trouble doing a layout without mats under my photos. Maybe that is something I can stop doing soon.
Thanks ladies, for your comments. I didn't see the 'town' before, either, but you're so right!

Re: back in the game
I did see that Marianne but I mean each photo on an individual mat.

Oh, I understand what you mean. I think separate photo mats would have been too busy with my photos tilted, especially with the postage stamp border. I think gathering a few photos on one larger mat, whether in a row or some kind of grid design, helps unify them - and if the edges of the photos aren't all perfectly lined up it makes for a cleaner look overall as your eye goes to the outside edge of the mat, rather than the helter-skelter edges of the photos. IMO, anyway.

I do think that is a wonderful way to go and I will give it a try soon. Terrific way to showcase the photos

Oh, I knew that was what you meant, Cheryl. We were all taught to mat every photo but there are other design options that serve the same purpose as a mat. A collage of papers behind a cluster of photos also separates them from the background paper just like this one large mat does on Keitha's layout. It just all depends on the look and feel that you want.troublesmom wrote:I did see that Marianne but I mean each photo on an individual mat.
