Camera

Post by Laurie »

I would like to purchase a new camera. Any suggestions? It needs to be easy to use and able to zoom. Good quality for scrapbooking

I like my little Sony. Great resolution, beautiful in movie mode, and has tons of presets to make your life easier, not to mention the tiltable viewing screen. The Zeiss lens is a definite plus - very sharp. This is the current model closest to mine (which is 9 years old):

Nikon has a similar camera, but not sure about ease of use. From reading the specs, if I didn't have the Sony I'd get the Nikon instead.

I personally find my Nikons easier to use than the Sony, but all of my Nikons are DSLRs and I really get tired of all of the weight and having to schlep the lenses around in a separate bag. Those are pretty well unused unless I'm doing serious shooting. These days I'm into light weight and portable.

I don't have any recommendations in that size camera but whatever you get, look for something that gets good reviews in low light so you don't have to use flash indoors much.

I didn't think I'd like a big camera, but I bought a Nikon D5200 and am in LOVE with it! Easy to use, and the AUTO actually works pretty good, since I'm such a newbie and clutz with cameras... I'm still thinking I'd like to take a photography class so I know what the heck I'm doing!
