Blockwallah stamps

Post by Trixie »

Have you ever heard of them? They are a Finnish Indian company and they make wooden stamps. Not rubber on wood. 100% wood. I saw an ad for them and went to their site. They look like little works of art. I just thought they were interesting.

We must have seen the same ad. Makes me wish I hadn't already made a large stamp order.

Wow, those are beautiful! They remind of the stamps that JFFB carves out of plain old rubber.

Very cool. Ornate designs. Might go on my Christmas list!

They've been in and out of my blue moon shopping cart for weeks. I love the elephant and some of the designs that remind me of doilies. So perfect for layering!

Oh, I looked at their etsy store. There were considerable more stamps than what Blue Moon is showing......hold on to your wallets :P :P :P

That's what I thought. But, I kept telling myself, "I could cut that myself".

I read reviews somewhere that they don't stamp all that well. Maybe the wood absorbs the ink....which might stop once it was conditioned. Someone needs to buy one and try it out...

I would bet that most people don't know how to use wood stamps. There has to be a learning curve. Surely they can't expect them to work like rubber or acrylic stamps? Okay, they probably do...

Yes, Marianne, you could carve your own. Not me! I have no carving shills whatsoever.

These are "investment pieces" in my art supply world. Going to choose one or two but taking my time with that decision!

I assumed (and you know how that goes) that you probably get a unique image with them. Kind of like Tim Holtz distressed images. Also, they might work better on certain thicker materials than on paper. They are just gorgeous and I agree with Pam, the elephants are wonderful.

As someone said, they are works of art in their own right, nice to just look at. I have a metal thing that is used to apply wax to fabric for batik. Not sure if they are called "chops" or what. I never got it to work so I just like to look at it.
