Minc - my adventures

Post by nchoney »

I stopped at my TM on the way home this evening and they had several of the Minc machines in there.... on sale for $29.99 .... so in case anyone's interested and has a TM close by... that's a pretty good deal... they're showing the regular retail at $79.99... so... I'll start playing with some foiling in the near future :-)

And there was a bunch of Martha Stewart stuff... adhesives, punches, etc.

That is a great buy on a Minc.
Judy - do you use yours very often? I've seen a few pieces you've done and they're so pretty.

I've had good luck with my MS punches - they seem to be pretty durable.

I figured it was a darn good price... and one I can afford since I just want to start dabbling first... plus we have a laser printer at home, so that part's a no-brainer... I can print out whatever I want

and yeah... the Martha punches are 2.99 and 3.99... those nice big sturdy ones

No, not real often, but I like the effect and it works well. I just am not comfortable using shiny stuff. I need more practice.

Didn't see it at my Tuesday Morning yesterday. But if a laser printer is required, I can't use it anyway.

At the Lobby this week, I bought a new DecoArt pen hoping to give it a go with my old foils. That will be as close as I get to the Minc.

Any laminator does the same thing. The laser printer is the key.

A little update. This one is the Minc mini. Not the full sized Minc. But that's fine for what I want to use it for.

Haven't played with it yet. But just got some foil today. Also found some good prices on foil from vendors at aliexpress.com

I have the mini minc, but do not use it much. Also used laminator for same result. Bought Heidi Swapp and Anna Griffin embellishments that were premade for foiling. You can also buy sheets of special paper and die cut yourself. There are also pens that lay down that needed substance to take foil.

So.... I tried my Minc this morning.... after about 4 passes through, it decided to eat the transfer folder and then melt it. I was using plain cardstock set on 4 like it says to... heck... it hadn't even gotten to the cardstock item that was in it... just mangled up the transfer folder.

I've written an email to American Crafts and attached these two photos... so we'll see what happens. For now, it's going back in the box. :-(

Oh no. Sorry this happened.

I use thin copy paper as the transfer folder, works well.

I'll see what they say.... if I get a response. Then I'll try some other options. It sure shouldn't have screwed up that quickly. LOL

I got an email from them yesterday.... asking for some more info and a photo of the Minc with a piece of paper with my address on it... kinda cool way to verify that I even own the thing... so maybe they'll ship a replacement. I'll keep y'all posted... but that sure was a quick response :-)
