2018 January Card Challenge - Outside/Inside Die Cut Card
2018 January Card Challenge - Outside/Inside Die Cut Card
Happy New Year friends! I have not forgotten my duty here but my schedule over the last 2 weeks has just kept me out of my craft room. Between holidays, Preserve surveys and Christmas Bird Counts (tomorrow is my last one) and family time, I’ve been stretched too far.
So watch this space (hopefully tonight) for my first 2018 card challenge. I have some card ideas that I hope everyone can join in on for 2018.
Back soon...
OKAY...HERE WE GO!
The front of this card as you can see has a die cut heart that is slightly popped up, but when you open it, it is actually on the inside of the card. Sort of a “twofer”. Any die can be used for this technique. A word die, image die or in this case it was just a stitched heart shape. I figure while doing this I might as well get started on Valentine’s cards. I’ve left off a greeting inside until I decide how and who this is going to.
To do this, decide on the die you want as your focal point and set up the front of your card with the card base and any other papers you may want to use. Adhere your panels together and then to the card base and then use the selected die on the cover to cut through the whole front of the card. In my case I die cut the heart also in another paper for contrast but using the same paper is also attractive. Now close the card, place foam adhesive on the back of your die cut and adhere it through the hole you’ve made from the front. Attach it carefully so that the card will reopen without getting caught. This was a fun technique I learned from Julie Ebersole last year using a die cut of a VW Bug, LOL. I’ve made several of those too.
I think this opens up more uses for our dies.
Have fun with this.

That's a clever and cute one

I recently saw that technique somewhere. Don't remember where, but I did make a note to give it a try. Your card is beautiful.

I'm working on Christmas cards for next year and will definitely be doing more of these. Thanks for the challenge, Farley.

Really nice, Sue!

Looking forward to trying this. Love the cards so far.

Sue the way you did your die cut is brilliant! You had me fooled as to what part was going to be on the inside until I saw the card opened. LOVE it and good for you getting the jump on holidays.

That is really pretty paper on the outside. Is it vellum?
Re: 2018 January Card Challenge - Outside/Inside Die Cut Car
No, not vellum (but that is a good idea). It's an embossed sheet from one of Kaisercrafts 6 1/2" Christmas pads --either Christmas Edition or Frosted.mpizzazz wrote:That is really pretty paper on the outside. Is it vellum?
