Bookbinding Glue

Post by tlscrap »

What's your all time favorite bookbinding glue for scrapbooking (yes I am making my albums, now that I found the directions!)

I love Club Scrap's version, but is there a good one I can get locally, the impatient soul that I am :scrapbooking:

I've tried the standard one that Hollander's sells, they are a bookbinding online store. I still like Club Scrap's better which might be Hollander's higher grade. But they will not ship the glues if temps are below freezing so I don't think you could get it this time of the year. They are in Michigan. You might have to find something locally. It is just thick PVA glue but probably acid free.
Most of the time for stuff I really don't care about I use gel medium but for albums, I'd want the real thing, too.

Yes, me, too... I just love CS bookbinding, but I'm so impatient to wait. I guess I'll head to Michael's tomorrow to see what I can find :)

I order my PVA from Dick Blick. 1/3 the price of CS for a much larger bottle. Or it was last time I ordered it.

In case anyone else is looking for PVA, Dick Blick has the 16 oz. bottle on sale for $9.95. In addition to using this for large items, I also have a needle nose bottle filled with it for small items. Works like a charm and I've had absolutely no issues with it. Also, it smells, feels and has the same viscosity as the other PVA that we were purchasing for more.

Do you know the brand name of the needle nose bottle you use? I’ve been refilling my little green and white Tombow bottle with my bookbinding glue. I might have to splurge on a new refillable bottle.

I use the ones that K Werner linked to on one of her tutorials. Can't remember the name of them, but they're 4 in a pack and have long pins in the ends. They might be Darice but don't quote me on that. Wouldn't you know I just threw the packaging away last week???

I'm pretty sure the one K Warner recommended is the "Fineline Applicator". It does have a pin to close off in the cap. I've used them, but honestly with mediocre results. The best I've found is Quilled Creations Precision Tip. It has a little cap that goes over the fine tip, I have one for years and it hasn't clogged.

That might be it. I haven't had any problems with them clogging - yet. I tend to use PVA in mine and it's more viscous (?) than the other glues/mediums that I've used.

Jennifer McGuire has rave reviews for Gina K’s new white glue. I’ve lost my Nuvo. Yes, there’s a black hole in my crafting area. So far, using my old Tombow dispenser and refilling it with my bookbinding glue is working well knock on wood.
