A lot of it does feel 'same old, same old' so like Monica I may save some money. I applaud Becky Fleck/PhotoPlay for the Muttcracker line; combining dogs and Christmas makes that a real niche product that most manufacturers would be afraid to do in today's market. I'm also drawn to the Kringle & Co line by Traci Smith mostly because it stands out as different, although a red/black/white/grey colour scheme would never be in my top choices for Christmas. I don't need Halloween paper but my choice from these offerings is the PhotoPlay line; I like the palette.

I've decided I need a mental shift when it comes to shopping for scrapbook paper. I've fallen into the rut of either buying a line by way of a collection pack or passing on it completely. Looking at the lines overall provides a colour palette and style (whimsical, cute, vintage, etc) which either I like or I don't - and once I've initially passed over the line I'm not looking closely at the individual papers. Partly this is due to shopping online and not seeing the individual papers in an LSS. I need to be more intentional with my paper purchases; there are probably at least one or two papers in every one of those lines that I could use, and would fit in with my existing stash. You kit club gals are probably getting a broader variety of product, however I still want to choose my own product, so that's not my preferred shopping style.

I agree that the holiday words and phrases are overdone. Personally I'd like to see fewer words/phrases overall; I can always stamp something or add word stickers. While we thankfully seem to have gotten away from the trend a few years ago where all embellishments had words on them there are still way too many for my liking - especially as it's the same old cliched stuff over and over.

I really wish that we could have a few elements of the true meaning of Christmas in the regular lines, and not just reserved for the occasional religious line. Those tend to have very reserved colour palettes and are pretty difficult to mix in with the mainstream stuff; it's as if you either need to be all preachy in your Christmas pages, or ignore the reason for the season completely.

I'm with you on this. There was a really lovely religious line like... 3 years back?... that I loved, but I didn't even find out about it until after Christmas and only have a few bits for it. I would be great to have some regular Christmas that included both. I still have the holiday stamp set from Club Scrap that was a more religious tone, which at least allows me to stamp my own papers in whatever palette I like, but a bit more variety with brighter colors would be great. I'd really love something that had more of a Middle East flavor to it, with the Wise Men on camels, sand dunes, the villages back then, purely because we have Christmas pageants every year and it would be nice to have papers to go with. But even just using a Moroccan color palette would be lovely and different, and given that a lot of my tree ornaments are a totally eclectic mix I could match pretty much anything but neons.

I bought some of this last year for Peggy and me... I'll be using it for photos from Christmas church service... they have a lovely manger scene, etc. so these will work nicely without being over-the-top.

just found it on this very nice list of all of last year's Christmas lines... https://www.scrapbookupdate.com/2018/07 ... -round-up/

But scrolling down that list.... they all look pretty similar to what's showing up for 2019. We need some companies that are willing to go out on a limb and design something different!! :-)

just saw this one down the page a bit... https://www.scrapbook.com/store/re-csp- ... 61k3_efhua

Hmm... that is a nice line, Debi. And in looking at last year's offerings, I'm finding a few of them more intriguing than anything this year! Might see if anyone is clearancing a couple that caught my eye and call it good for this year.

I'd have to purchase that one sheet for the Stewart plaid if nothing else.

I like the poinsettias, holly and flowers, but I don't use the bazillion pieces I already have. I need to just take a buying pass for now and actually use what I have.
