Club Scrap

Post by pat-czap »

I look to see what the new kit is all about on the 1st of the month, just curious. I was surprised to read this morning that CS is putting retreats on hold. A bit of a shock after 20 years, but maybe it shouldn't be.

My guess would be they are struggling a bit like a lot of other companies, and perhaps the retreats aren't really making enough for them to spend time and effort putting them together? Sad to hear though. Although I haven't really been impressed with their changes the last few years, they have been a good solid company.

I thought I recently saw the signup information for one of the cabin retreat things... so maybe they're just doing those... smaller scale activity

Twenty years is a long time to keep up that act. I really enjoyed the two retreats I went to in ‘10 and ‘11 and their extravagance of that long fun weekend. But I lost interest in them around 2012 after they did a few things that really put me off. I even got a phone call from Tricia due to a comment I made to someone “privately” on the forum or so I thought. I told Tricia as lovely as her collections have always been that they were getting stale and repetitive. She was surprised by my opinion but that is how I felt and still do. We talked for easily 30 minutes on that subject. I think all stamp/scrap companies have a lot of pressure to come up with something new every month. I even feel that way about Tim and his great products and I told Tricia that as well.

I hope Tricia, company and family are well. My guess is they are looking at new ways to market themselves. Those Retreats are money suckers in spite of the buying frenzy that goes on at them.
