Hurricane relief

Post by pamcook »

Just in case you missed it - many crafting companies are donating profits toward hurricane relief. I think most are designated for the Bahamas. The Outer Banks here in N.C. suffered tremendous damage but my thoughts are the more money donated the better. Disaster relief funds are always stretched too thin.
Jennifer McGuire has a post on her blog if you have questions.

If you’re making vacation plans for 2020, consider heading to the OBX. Tourism is their industry.

Thanks Pam!!

Also.... if you usually donate toys to a collection at Christmas time... consider sending one my way. I want to get a bunch of toys down to the families who've lost them all. Ocracoke and the southern part of Hatteras Island had severe flooding... so I'm pretty sure toys were lost or had to be thrown away ... it's not clean water at all since we all operate on septic tank systems down here... so they have to be tossed. And toys are not going to be what these families are able to spend any spare money on... they've got to replace structure of their homes and other belongings first.

Some have flood insurance... but depending on the zoning many haven't been able to get flood insurance in years. So repairs and housewares purchases come out of their pockets.

But... they'll come back from this. A little worse for wear.... but... with help, they'll come back. :-)

I think I forgot to post this.... if anyone wants to donate to the relief efforts... there's an Amazon wish list page with a huge variety of things that are needed.

If you place an order, be sure to use the address at the top of that page... so it goes to the Lifeline Outreach address

https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/A ... RbNqKJot8M

You can order anything from a single can of insect repellent to a dehumidifier... wide variety!
