Warning: Gushing Mom!

A great day today. Charley’s virtual Zoom graduation happened this afternoon. Not too many tears were shed, LOL. This proud mom got to hear my son, valedictorian and Holli, salutatorian give their speeches together which was their idea. They spent a number of hours together online writing and rehearsing and last week recorded it for today’s ceremony. Though this was not what the graduates had hoped for it didn’t diminish the accomplishments of this awesome Class of 2020. I’m not just proud of Charley but of all of them and what they went through for 4 years, particularly this last one. So with Charley in cap and gown on one side of dining table on his laptop and Leigh Ann and I on the other viewing it from my iPad we enjoyed an hour plus of speeches and many awards. Charley also received the Trial Advocacy Award and the Scholastic Achievement Award. As Bob would have said, “That’s my boy”!

Thank you all so much! It was a wonderful if not a bit bittersweet day. A few tears shed when Charley and Holli paused to show a list of family members who had passed during their 4 years...well a lot of tears. Leigh Ann next to me with tissues and hugs. But they also listed beautiful moments of marriages and babies being born during that time. This class of theirs was remarkable and so supportive of each other.

Pat, yes Charley is tall. He’s at least 6’3”. But when I stood next to him for that photo I felt very small. In my youth was 5’11” but now I’m 5’10.5” or at least I was, LOL. Maybe he grew some more? But yes, he’s 5 inches taller than I am and was also taller than Bob.
