Gas for Less! - Route 66

Post by Keitha »

One more Route 66 gas station page - although there's just an abandoned building and decaying signs to indicate Whiting Bros. was ever there. I don't consider myself a history buff but I enjoy researching what once was when I have photos with little to no info; quality gas for less was the Whiting Bros' slogan when these stations were prolific across the southwest. My background is an inked and stamped page completed for a challenge here years ago, paired with papers and embellishments from American Traditional Designs, 2005. I think that was the year I decided I wanted to drive the length of Route 66, although it took 10 years before it happened.

Another great page! I do like that background paper.

Joel and I would run across dilapidated buildings in our road trips. I find them fascinating. It makes me sad that too many are bull dozed.

There's a lot of history decaying and rusting along the older highways in the US. Very cool that you not only documented but did research on what you found!
