Quilt things
Quilt things
So... I've been doing quilts the past couple months. One I've actually done from start to finish and two others were tops that needed to be finished. The colorful one that I did start to finish is a 50th birthday present for my cousin Amy, who loves bright colors and is anxiously awaiting the delivery of her quilt. This one is based on the 2024 Merry Mayhem New Year's Day mystery quilt, although it took me three weeks to finish the top! My aunt in Kansas has a machine quilter, so when I finished it I sent this one and two that I've had done for several years to her for quilting.

Re: Quilt things
This one is also a Merry Mayhem New Year's Day quilt, from about 10 years ago I believe, which I had tucked away with its backing fabric because I don't actually quilt! I decided to send the finished quilt to my mom for her 74th birthday, and it's also in the mail right now. The fabrics are primarily coffee themed with one or two tea themed ones in the mix.

Unfortunetly, quilting is something I never
learned. I remember many, many years ago,
my mother and a few of her friends had
quilting get togethers to create a quilt as
a wedding gift for my sister. I still remember
the colors and pattern that they used. They
had a huge frame and each woman had a
section to work on. I must have been 12
or 13 at the time.
Monica your gifts of the quilts will be one
of those treasured gifts that will be held
in their hearts for ever. They are both lovely/

Thank you, Elizabeth and Sue!
Elizabeth, I blame my mom for getting me into this, although the actual quilting my aunt does on her machine for me. I'm lucky enough to have several quilts and afghans that were made for me over my life, all of them a memory of the women who made them for me, and I wanted to pass that gift onto my cousins, which is why I took the plunge to do a quilt for each one as they turn 50. Next year may kill me... 2 cousins and my sister turn 50!
