I was very surprised when we went to Phoenix to see many Aussie plants we were familiar with as well as the cacti and other very bright flowers. It was much more colorful than I expected.Debbie J wrote:I used to love that time of year where we would hit all the nurseries is a 50 mile radius. Now it's cacti!
I like that very much. Cute gardening paper and photo!katymjo wrote:Visiting our favourite plant nursery. Although the plants are small, they are inexpensive, so you can take a wheelbarrow round the back field and load it up! When you can't cram any more in, it's time to go!
Kathryn.
Yes, Ray gets very homesick when he goes to CA and sees all the eucalyptus trees and other Aussie plants. The jacarandas were blooming when we were in Phoenix. They are his favorites.ScrappinJen wrote:Marianne, California is full of Aussie plants.
Yes, bottlebrushes are Australian. We were surprised to see one in a garden in the UK in a protected spot. Ray laments that I wasn't from the West Coast so he could have lived in CA instead of over here on the East Coast.ScrappinJen wrote:I always wanted a Jacaranda tree. I think I read that it wasn't good for my zone. I used to have a couple of bottlebrush trees, which I think are Australian. I lost them in a freeze back in 1990. My pride and joy was a silver dollar eucalyptus trees that I had in the back yard. We called it our money tree.
The tinted transparency is what threw me. The shoes looked current and the tone didn't. It so artistic - I do love it!pugmom wrote:Thanks, Pam. The picture was just taken a couple of months ago. There were other people in the picture so I cropped it, enlarged my brother, changed it to black and white and then put some tinted transparency frames over him. There's also a transparency frame over the rock climber.
Hi Kathryn, it's a Silhouette Cameo cut - I think it is called Mountain Pulse.katymjo wrote:What an interesting layout, Sue. I like the way you placed the embellishment lower right. Is it a heartbeat trace? is it a mountain range? It really symbolises the effort of rock-climbing!
