Pam, I love your layouts! AND, I am sooooo enjoying where you live, and not just a photo of a house, if that makes sense :)

Makes perfect sense to me, Sharon. My house is actually very boring and only a tiny piece of our home. We have over 9 acres of land that we call yard, even though not all of it is mowable. (Is that a word?) Right now I'm only brave enough to go along the fringes of the unmowed section - it's still pretty hot here and we have four types of poisonous snakes in my part of NC - rattlesnakes, copperheads, moccasins and coral snakes. I'm one of those people who thinks that if it doesn't have legs, it doesn't need to be near me, so I'm terrified of all snakes. After the weather is colder I'll move into the woods, but for now I'm scouring the property in search of a fresh view. Today I took these pictures of the sumac at the edge of the woods. It's heavily laden with pollen just now and the bees are loving it (you can see a huge ball of pollen on one of the bees) and the soy bean field behind us. I had noticed it a few weeks ago when it was just budding and didn't know what it was. Today I asked Eldest to walk out there with me and he told me what it was and how it'll affect the taste of our honey. Really cool, because a year ago I would have just mowed it down with the bush hog. I think this summer is turning into a time of discovery for me!

The okra has decided to bloom. Talk about waiting until the 11th hour.

I too learned something. I've never seen an okra plant and avoid the veggie whenever possible. That is definitely a pretty flower, Pam.

I love okra. My grandma used to stew it in tomatos, yummy! Fried okra is too bland though.

Sharon - this one's for you. Definitely not your run of the mill house pic. Well, not my house, anyway.

Stunning, Pam!! What you are doing with this challenge is amazing!

(I'm still taking a daily photo but it's getting really old. I will be glad when the year is over.)

I wish it was! It's just 9 acres of whatever has decided to grow along with whatever we've planted. The honeysuckle is growing up in the unmowed areas and having its way with the undergrowth and smaller trees. I wish the red honeysuckle hadn't died - it was beautiful, but I've been told it's very difficult to cultivate.

It's raining so I can't mow grass. Good day to play catch-up.
