I have been using my CS stencils...they come in handy for mixed media stuff.

Gosh, I haven't even gotten to my videos for today. So much inspiration, so little time.

I have to say that today's techniques were yawners, but maybe because a lot of us here use stencils often, especially in mixed media applications. I do like some of his stencils and they seem to be a great size for journals, so chances are I'll pick up some of them. As for embossing using the stencils? Another one I won't bother with.

Hope these pick up because so far not as interesting as last year's classes.

I enjoyed today's video's as well, even though I've used some of these techniques before, I enjoy the way Tim teaches. And I never even thought of embossing my stencils with the vagabond. A whole new world opened up there.

so, here we have embossing through a stencil, the one with the ornamental stencil from CS was a mistake, but I actually like it better. The mistake was that I used embossing ink instead of a colored distress ink, so the tag shows through, but I like it. The correct one, I used the Painted Desert stencil and it gets a little lost, but it's not bad.

the last one here is the embossing with a stencil technique and once I figured out a sandwich I could do without ordering more stuff from sizzix, worked like a charm. I used the Adobe stencil to make a brickwork.

Next, is the distress ink and distress paint monoprints technique, one I'm very familiar with. the first is the ink, second the paint and third one I messed up by using my towel to blot the stencil, but it's ok too.

And then there is the industrial technique. Well, I didn't buy black distress paint and I don't have that texture fade, so I went with a wintry cracked glass and the leaves, just to see what the paints did on the foil.

Next are the stencil stamping technique and the mixed media layering.

The stencil stamping was fun. I used the Gimme a Ring CS stencil, don't know if I've ever used this stencil, and the corresponding phone page stamp

the mixed media one was humming along fine until I ruined it by trying the mist through the stencil on the last step. Didn't tape the stencil down and it ended up just bleeding purple underneath. Oh well. done this one alot too, so it was just an exercise. I do like the resist feature of the distress paints.

Thanks everyone! I used the Big Shot platform on the middle shim then the cutting pad, the tag, the stencil a piece of that craft foam from the kids dept, then the other cutting pad. I didn't want to try in the vagabond in case I broke something, but it worked fine in the Big Shot.

Really pretty Rachelle!

I'm actually happy to know we can emboss with the stencils. I threw away so many CS stencils and never missed them. The few I have get used over and over and now I have more ways to use them.
Thanks for that, Tim!

I'll have to play wit the embossing sandwich a bit to see what will work with the Cuttlebug. I have 2 silicone mats from Spellbinders that are for embossing with their dies, so it shouldn't be too hard to figure out. Now if only I didn't have to work!! I was going to try keeping up each day, but I still need to finish up one from Day 1 and 5 from Day 2. Darn job gets in the way!!! :angry42:

Love your tags, Rachelle. Didn't get to this video until late last night. But learned lots of new tricks to try.
