Taking a class this month (9/14)

Post by pamcook »

I'm taking a class this month and recording what I learn on 4 x 6 pieces of cardstock/patterned papers. I'll place them in divided protectors so I can keep them in my regular albums and not have to make/deal with another mini album.

We aren't learning art techniques, it's an introspective "learning" or identifying life lessons we're being taught. It's a yearly class by Shimelle. Once you sign up, you can join in every September. It's been available for several years but this is the first time I've heard of it.

Should be interesting.

So - this is my cover sheet. I watched a Prima video last week by Limor Webber (art journal pages) and used it for my inspiration. I used a canvas from Donna Downey, papers, stamps, washi tape, and stickers from my stash. After it was finished, I cut it into sections to fit the protector. I should have paid more attention to where I was stamping but c'est le vie. Right? There's lots and lots of glimmer glam on it making it very sparkly. Evidently my life lesson today is that there is no good way to photograph glitter. When you do get a good shot, it's a happy accident!

It looks good cut up like that. Something interesting in each section. I haven't heard of that class by Shimelle either.

Every time I look at those butterfly stickers, I smile. They're some of the first non-CM supplies I ever bought. Contraband! 8-)

Speaking of contraband, when I was introduced to scrapping in the mid 90s, the consultant sold both CM and D.O.T.S. (now Close to my Heart). That was a real no no! But I would never have scrapped the CM way so I was glad to see the alternative with patterned papers and stamping. Unfortunately, I still bought a lot of Mrs. Grossman's stickers from the CM side of things.

I love the idea of that class! And your cover page is really pretty. Great start!

LOL @ contraband!
