Plarn?

Post by azemigh »

Anyone made "plarn" before? Well, my crochet student belongs to a recycle club and they want to have "plarn" or plastic yarn hats to wear in the Rhody Days parade the middle of this month. So we dove right in a few weeks ago and made "plarn" out of recycled grocery bags and set to making a sun hat. I finished mine up today and will help Celeste (my crochet student) finish hers up on Tuesday when we meet. Hers will be out of white bags with red, blue and green in them.

I think it turned out rather well.

I've seen totes made from it but never a hat.
It's so cute!

Same as Pam, seen it as totes but never hats.
Always think it's a neat way to recycle plastic bags.

A plarn hat is a first for me, too; ditto on the bags. Very cute!

Very cool. Totes are an excellent idea. I wouldn't wear the hat, I fear. Baseball caps for me. I look like a dork in all head coverings. Hubby calls me peanut head.

Hey, maybe I should dig out my grade school beanie.

I'll be wearing it at the Kentucky Derby party we're going to this afternoon, so we'll see how it goes over.
