Has anyone ever tried this before? I love the look. Thought it would be fun to do on a sheet of paper and use it for punches or diecuts.

That looks really cool.... not sure how it'll appear in a small sample like a punch or diecut... but it makes great backgrounds on her examples...

I may try some of that, too... trying to pre-organize some things to do to keep me busy on a trip up to Baltimore later in September... I'm taking the train both ways from the Norfolk, VA area... so I'll have about 4 or 5 hours to fiddle around with little projects... if I can figure out a sample or two, then I can get the stamping/embossing done ahead of time... maybe even the folding... and then just do the inking on the train... should keep me out of trouble for an hour or so...

I thought leaf punches or dies would be really pretty for fall layouts.

Yes, very cool! I've done this without crumpling the paper, but I love the look of all the veins through the embossing. Definitely going to give this a try.

I've done this before in the past, but always ironed afterwards to remove the embossing. She doesn't say that in directions but wonder if she did? Or I missed it, LOL

I love that technique but as the others said, it never suggested crumpling before. I like ironing off the embossing powder because it gets rid of the shine and makes it look more like real batik.

I liked her version using the Kraft card stock too.

I wonder if using liquid frisket/rubber cement over the stamps would work? I might try that instead of embossing just to see what happens with the cracking from crumpling it up.

Can you stamp with rubber cement, Farley? Guess I could try it, couldn't I? I know I bought some for some reason

I gave it a try tonight.... I used some Adirondak inks on the white one.... and Distress Inks on the kraft colored one...

The distress inks work much better...

and... when folding the cardstock.. you get a better crack in the embossed images if you fold that side outward.... then the embossed area cracks more.. or more deeply (so I don't think you'd get that same effect if you used rubber cement... that would clear off the page easily, but I don't think it would crack
