A Christmas Card Request

Post by pbp908 »

No, I'm not requesting a card shower.

What I am asking for is an opinion, I guess. When I'm in a swap, 99% of the fun is not seeing what everyone else is doing before I receive the swapped items. Little teasers, like the one Pam C posted of the postcard swap, are fun, but don't really spoil the anticipation. Now I'm seeing photos of the cards for the swap - granted they're not all of what's being mailed, but it's almost like a buzz kill, and that's an entire thread I have to avoid now. Am I the only person who would rather not see swap items in advance of mailing?

Edited: I just read Marianne's post in the card thread. (The last page is "safe" because there are no spoilers there.) What she said is a part of why I feel the way I do - we end up comparing what we made to what's being posted.

I can see your point, Pam, and you shouldn't look if it really spoils your fun. I don't remember us doing the posting of the cards before this year. I'll probably post a group photo of the cards I'm sending to other people not to PAO.

But it doesn't really matter to me if I see the spoiler. Many of the cards aren't going to be exactly the same and even if they are all the same, seeing them on the screen never does them justice. Like with the Halloween swap, I saw them all while I was away but it was still exciting when I got home and saw them in person.

I totally agree with you, Pam. I've been avoiding that thread. Takes some excitement away PLUS makes me second guess everything I'm doing.

I haven't posted the one I've made for the swap, but will post what I'll be sending elsewhere. I'm working on those cards a bit, today.

Also working on my secret sister handmade gift today too. Nice not to have a house full of people. Chevie is being extra snuggly today, so not sure how much progress I'll make.

All I'm going to say about what I've made is that a certain designer whose blog I follow posted almost the exact same card that I made. Either great minds travel in the same track or that's the only thing you can do with that stamp.

The cards I posted are cards I have been working on. Doesn't mean that they are the ones in the swap and I had asked on the original post about showing photos. I also asked Debi to start a new thread for cards to post. I'm sorry that there are so many who don't want to see the cards. To me it doesn't make any difference and as Marianne said in person is so different that on a machine.

Whew! I'm really glad these aren't the swap cards - now I can go back to looking!
