Copic Marker Techniques

Post by tlscrap »

So, I have discovered the love of Copic Markers! I went to a LSS (well, local to me, 40 minutes away) cardmaking class last month, and got to use these markers for the first time...LOVE THEM!! So, when I went back, I bought 1, yes I know, just one, they're quite pricey. I ordered my first 8 this week, and they're on their way! Merry Christmas to me :)

So, on the Technique Junkies yahoo groups, an email was sent around of this woman's blog, and I wanted to pass it on here, if anyone is interested. She gives great tutorials on the copic site, and her site, about blending, shading, etc. Have fun!

I've found that the following place is the cheapest that I've seen so far for these markers, if anyone knows of a cheaper one, let us all know!!
Alot of them are out of stock right now, but I had to keep checking back to get the 8 piece set, plus you really have to search in this site....

Me too Elizabeth, I noticed that some of the TJs are using them, and they really do look nice.... Now it's buying a piece at a time :)

I love the look of these, but I have a question. I bought one at Hobby Lobby with a coupon to try. Are they all a large chisel point on one end and a brush marker on the other end? I can't seem to get good control with it.

I think there are different kinds, the one you have sounds like the sketch marker which is the one that everyone like right now :) but I do believe there are other tips.

There was no special technique, and I made some holiday cards, which I TOTALLY forgot to scan before sending them off in the mail :( But a lot of people have been using them to color in their stamped images. The colors are really vibrant and blend really well, they look really nice on homemade cards.

But this is a links to what some of the projects were, just not the ones that I made, it was put out by Hero Arts and one of their teachers, so I put up their blog so you can see the types of stamping that they do:

I have the blender pen, and I used it, instead of filling up a reservoir brush, to do the AI painting on one of Tim's tags. It worked just like the blending solution and I didn't have to worry about mixing up the reservoir brushes. The real beauty of it is that the pen is refillable.... yay! Anyway, thought I'd post my 2 cents worth.... I don't have any of the other pens but then again I'm not really a marker lover either.

I didn't realize that all these pens were refillable, which is really cool. I need to order that blender pen next!

I bought a set over the summer with a 40% off coupon at my local Jerry's Artarama. Annette happened to go there the day Jerry was visiting that store, and got an even bigger discount on her set! Jerry's is also available on-line.

I tried Copics when we first got here and fell in LOVE! They are between $3 and $3.50 here. You can replace the tips too. I can't remember the price of the sets. they have a beginners set thats new and has mostly skin tones. Its around $85. I love that I can go buy them individually as my project needs.

You can replace the tips too. I read somewhere that over the life of the marker, it averages out to a little over $1 per marker for use if you refill ti and place the nibs or tips.
