2016 Christmas Cards - June challenge
Re: 2016 Christmas Cards - June challenge
Thanks Rachelle . I can see looking at Deb's what I think is lacking with mine. Deb created a denser pattern which, now that I think of it, is the point of a master sheet. I may have to try this again.

I have put aside my genealogy for a little while and hope to complete a few of the challenges.
Here are my cards for the June challenge:

Yay... I like everyone's cards!! It was fun to try to use up every scrap, too. And fun to ink up a clean set of stamps... haha

Fun challenge Debi, with this oldie-but-goodie technique. Everyone's cards are great! I don't do cards but wanted to play along anyway, so created this background page for a scrapbook layout. Although so far it's just the stamped page; I decided not to mount it yet as I'm not sure if I'll use it as a single page background, or if I'll cut it up across a 2-page layout. Either could take me months to get around to, so for now I'm just sharing the masterboard.
I started by using Tim's Wrinkle Free Distress technique to put some colour on my cardstock and then stamped over top, trying not to overlap the images. Changed my mind about colours after I started stamping; originally I was going to use all shades of brown for the stamps but then decided I'd like it better using the paler inks I'd put on the background. Which is how the biggest stamp ended up in the darkest colour - I'd have preferred it be the lightest colour, I think. But overall it works and a dark border will help with that. I also have to point out to Marianne that had I been overthinking it - something she rightly accuses me of all too often - I'd have saved the green colour for the cactus stamp. But the gas pumps, a bigger image, were stamped before I got to the cactus, LOL.

That will look really nice with your Route 66 album. Either way as a background, photo mats and just random here and there. The color is subtle enough not to take away from the photos.

Looks great Keitha - I have that stamp set, thanks for the reminder that I should dig it out for Father's Day!
Re: 2016 Christmas Cards - June challenge
LOVE it, Keitha. I may not have that set but I have one very similar. I'm going to do this, too. Since I'm really trying to focus on layouts and not cards, for the month of June.

Good idea to make a scrapbooking background. Still creating mine - in my mind. I will get there.
Love the colors and this stamp set is pretty wonderful. Great choices.

Keitha what a great background no matter how you decide to use it. You just may have given me and idea for some masculine birthday cards. Wish I had that set but I'll find one to use.

Keitha... great background!
This idea will work for Christmas layout backgrounds too... although I think I'm ok on background papers right now... LOL
