I'm going to bring my gelli plates and some paints to play with my stamps. If anyone wants to join in, bring some stencils, thin paper, paints, etc. It's good dirty fun! :creating:

I'd love to! What kind of paints?

I've got a stack of newspapers so we can get messy without making a mess. :cool5:

Does regular copy paper work? Or something different?

Yes, you can use any paper in any size. I have a small plate and a larger one. The small plate is good for card front size images.
Printed scrapbook paper that you don't like anymore or failed experiments or fabric are good to use. I've used the old thick CS paper, book text, anything. I'll bring deli paper.

It's not all that messy unless you use way too much paint. If a few people bring the little bottles of acrylic paints that will be plenty. Just cheap paint, nothing good. I'll bring some. Newspapers to put the papers on to dry would be good. You can print a lot fast and they need something to lay on to dry.

A brayer is good to have to spread the paint on the plate. I have two.

Diecuts, stencils, stamps, are all good to use on the plates to make prints. If you bring Christmas stencils you could make a lot of images to put on cards. I'm sure just in all your regular supplies you are bringing, there will be plenty of things to use on the plates.

Assuming I can find mine, I'll bring it. Haven't used it since the last time we were at Donna's. Oh - and fabric works as well. We used light weight muslin (not Muslim, spell check!).

A group gelli session sounds like fun. I was reading recently where you can also put dye inks on your gelli plate for a different look. And if someone has one of those portable fold-up clothes dryers, you can clip your prints to it with clothespins to dry - will take up way less space than spread all over newspapers.

I'm working on a little project today that's using some old gelli prints I made in a JFFB class a few years ago, fun!

My plates are homemade so I don't know about the commercial plates being able to take inks. I put some kind of dye on my plate and it is now stained a deep purple forever! I even melted it down to make two thinner plates in different sizes and they are both the purple color.

Much prettier than this nothing-color of the store-bought version.

Don't think you have to bring pristine white paper for the gelli prints. Something already on the paper just adds more interest as you add layers of paint. Bring reject experiments, magazines to rip out pages to print on, scraps of printed papers. I am just going through my stuff and have coffee filters, blah Citrasolv experiments on National Geographic pages, other printed papers, maps, junk mail, etc.

She was definitely used a commercial plate with the dye inks and it didn't stain.

I've got one of those drying racks.... it's been out in the weather on the front porch... so I guess I'd better make sure it still stands up.. but I think it should and it's only been used for drying crafty projects anyway.... and I have some binder clips that should work for clipping things onto it, too... and I've got plenty of plastic tablecloths to use as dropcloths, as well... definitely don't want to get paint on the floor eeek...

I'll grab more left-over newspapers, too.

and now I should go find some more assorted pieces of paper.. yay!!

Excellent! I'm hoping anyone who wants can just have a go whenever they want if we leave all the supplies in a pile somewhere. I only have the two plates.
