So I was just talking with a co-worker about our week's adventures.... and she told me that one of the ladies who works in one of our offices is a very talented alcohol ink artist... I didn't know that...

while looking up any info about her online... I also came across this other artist who also teaches alcohol ink classes at another local restaurant up in Nags Head... I might attend one to see if I learn some more techniques... http://www.obxinks.com/ that welcome page lets you scroll through some close-up images.... there's also a menu at the bottom of the page ... one of the projects was also Christmas ornaments.... so I just might get some clear glass ornaments this year and make some alcohol ink designed ones as gifts.

This is a link to images of what my co-worker has done... super fun stuff!!

Many of the examples in that ebook use masking fluid to set part of the design apart. Good idea there.

Between Julie streaming movies on her computer and Adam online playing games, I have zero bandwidth right now to download the book. :angry48: I'll try again tomorrow morning while they're all in bed.

I also joined another Facebook group... Alcohol Ink Art Community .... where the folks share their artwork and also tips&tricks of the process

There's some interesting stuff there.... and everything being posted.. from beginners to mistakes to gorgeous pieces from talented artists... definitely fun to look at

I ordered the book, Pigments of your Imagination: Creating with Alcohol Inks, on Amazon the other day. It just got here and now I'm super excited. I did get some 91% alcohol yesterday, but had to delay going to Lowes for more tiles because there was a huge traffic delay due to an accident on the highway. I figured tiles could certainly wait until today. Going to play this weekend, though.

Wow Debi, thanks for the great resources. I'd like to learn how to do the landscapes and specific images with them. Did y'all learn that in your class?

We each just did a few simple techniques in our class... but I've browsed through the book and found that they use straws or those little coffee stirrers to spread/wiggle the inks around in some of the landscape paintings... lots of ways to play with these inks

Here are mine... a 3x6 tile with flowers... a 4x8 tile with a jellyfish... and some pieces of yupo paper I played with

We'll see if I get better with practice! :-)
