Keitha found a blog that does art on an Index Card A Day (ICAD) for the months of June and July each year. Wendy and I are going to give it a go even though she is at work and I am going to be traveling. This week has been warmup exercises.
Here is the link to info. It seems that the warmups and prompts will be on her blog here:

but there is a main page also for the ICAD info here: https://daisyyellowart.com/icad-base

This looks tempting. I'm short on time but who knows?

I'm considering it - although might also be accused of overthinking it! I think the point, Farley, is they're meant to be fairly quick, creative exercises that one can fit into an otherwise busy schedule. And still keep that creative mojo going.

They would be nice for PL pages and even for a base to build a title and/or journaling tag for a scrapbook page.

The idea of the index card as a base is that it is totally disposable, not some precious paper you have been hoarding! And just a quick art exercise each day. I did a couple by just seeing some technique and thinking i want to try that without committing a whole morning and several pieces of paper trying said technique.
BUT, has anyone looked or felt index cards lately? They are thinner than ordinary cardstock and not much more than text weight. Horrible! And, we might have other paper we could use that could hold some ink or paint.

I have tons of index cards, many of them colored. I do like the manilla ones I have that have tabs. My only objection to them is that they get "furry" with too much loading of inks, paint, watercolor, etc. But as mentioned, they're great for experimenting many techniques. It's a fun challenge for taking 10 - 30 minutes to be creative.

I love doing ICAD's as well as Rolodex cards. I've been doing them for about two years and have quite a collection. They are a great way to use up scraps. You can glue two together to make it thicker and sturdo. Quick and easy little works of art.

I'm hoping this will be as much fun as the Deck of Art Challenge we did here on PAO. That is one of my all time favorite art projects we have done.

Good idea to glue two together, Carol. I'm adding gelli prints, book text, other thinner papers to them also for a bit more strength and background interest. I won't have access to my stash for most of the time ICAD is on.

No guarantees I'll keep this up, but here are my first four ICAD warm-ups. I'm using the tabbed manila cards because that's what I've got in my stash, although am laying down a quick layer of gesso for wet media.
Carol, I hope you'll share some of your work here also.

Now, who else can we lure over to the dark side?

Maybe next week I can. I'm at the beach this weekend so no arting will get done. The grands are keeping me pretty busy.

I keep cards on my table all the time. I love to just grab whatever is on my desk, some paint and play. They make great paint wipe up backgrounds and then just add whatever you want on top. Easy, quick and no planning. So much fun!

What size are Index Cards? If I cut some card, I might play along!
Kathryn.

There are two standard sizes here - 4" x 6" and 3" x 5"; you could certainly cut some out of whatever cardstock you've got on hand.
