August 2017 Card Sketch Challenge - Card Your Scraps
Re: August 2017 Card Sketch Challenge - Card Your Scraps
I have a new die that cuts little birds. I had a bag of scraps left from making my Falconry Book, some shabby chic bits and a few papers left from a 8x8 pad of spots and stripes.
The cards are for a couple of "birdy guys " with birthdays soon. (and one to keep in reserve).
Kathryn.

There were a few sheets left in a 6x6 pad that a friend gave me when she was moving house ( in a bag with a load of other stuff ). You know, the ones you will never use, but they looked quite good when I'd used my feather dies! The only snag is that the red and green one looks a bit Christmassy!

Beautiful. That one with the 3 feathers is my fave. Where did you get that feather die, inquiring minds would like to know.
Re: August 2017 Card Sketch Challenge - Card Your Scraps
Lovely cards, both the birdies and the feathers. This enquiring mind seconds Debbie's question; I'd love to know who makes both those feather dies.
Re: August 2017 Card Sketch Challenge - Card Your Scraps
The small feather die is a Sizzix Thinlit called "little feather". I don't know who made the large one, it was a freebie with a papercraft magazine a few months ago.

Thanks Kathryn. You've made me realize I have a couple of feather dies; they're different, but what matters is to get them out and use them. Good point about diecuts, especially intricate cuts, altering patterned paper to something usable.katymjo wrote:The small feather die is a Sizzix Thinlit called "little feather". Awesome Kathryn! Your feathers are gorgeous and your beautiful cards are a great reminder to use those scraps for die cuts.
I recently attended my neighborhood bead group and there is one member who always brings me her "scraps". Some of the oddest sheets of high quality card stock which could be used for mattes but really I think I'm going to use them for die cuts.
Thanks for playing Kathryn.

Remember, people, when you approach a piece/scrap of paper for diecutting, punching, stamping, altering, it has two sides! One side could be white in which case, the world is your oyster! Some of the snowflakes I cut at ReCreate were white on the back of a green geometric print from the rak table. Others were a wintery blue print with a white back so I could use either side which I did on a recent card.
You'll never recognize whatever the print was once it's diecut.

Are your scrap piles getting smaller? I haven't made much of a dent and seriously, I need another 6x6 pad like I need another hole in the head!
