Brrr, it’s 73 in Az and I’m froze! Guess it’s true about your blood thinning out. As of Match 1 I have been here a year.

I was hoping you weren’t in the thick of it. Wine, cupcakes, and friends - sounds like a party!

Thanks for the update, Dee. I'm sure you've had a great visit regardless!

We haven't lost power but the wind shifted to northeast and there's been ocean overwash and the highway is impassible in a few places. Of course DOT didn't close the highway until vehicles had already gotten stuck or ran off the pavement. Not a fun night for Mike. He was out there assisting with patient transport since one of the stuck vehicles was an ambulance. Hopefully things will calm down today.

Hope everyone else stays safe and warm!!

My girlfriend is still without power, and they are predicting another dump of snow Wednesday. The east side is getting hammered!

Debi is SO minimizing what they’re suffering on the islands. Check out her facebook videos and those from Studio 12.
Be safe Debi. Mike as well. So glad you have power and can work (some) from home.

As long as it's just water and sand on the highway, we don't panic. Once this storm passes, our DOT crews will clear the highway and we'll be back to normal.

Barring any damage to the pavement (which they're not anticipating) our highway should be open again tomorrow and I'll be able to head north to work in my regular office. One of the nice things about working where I do... there's an office close to my house and I can remote into my desktop from a laptop, here. Yay!!! So... I'm officially at work.

Now... hoping I can officially do some grocery shopping tomorrow.... I wasn't prepared for the road to be closed... sigh...

These photos are of the highway just at the north end of Rodanthe.... bet y'all didn't know there were sandbags under those dunes....

Hoping that the tides will go down and cooperate with all the efforts being made to clear the road and start rebuilding the dunes....

BUT.... we have power and internet.... no snow... and my house isn't flooded... so I'm super happy!!

Highway? What highway?
I've always been land locked so I can't even imagine what it's like living right on the edge of the ocean.
Stay safe, Debi.

yep.... highway... LOL

if you look closely at the top photo.... you can see the double yellow lines that would be in the middle of the road... keep in mind "highway" = 2 lane road
