Traveling! (Image added)

Post by pamcook »

I feel like I've talked about this non-stop since I bought my ticket. Evidently not!
DSIL is opening a warehouse outside of Auckland so Cara & family are there with him for a month. Spur of the moment - bought a ticket. Yes, it's winter there but who cares. (I can handle "winter" in NZ better than summer here!) Riz lived there through his teens with a host family so I hope to meet them. Nope, I've never been there before and I can't wait. There's a slight, slight chance we could all end up moving there but it's all too far-off in the distance to even consider it as a real possibility. Besides, property values are through the roof.
So, Thursday evening, I'm heading to Auckland. OH! and there's a huge papercrafting event in Auckland the weekend I arrive. Mia and I have plans! My goal is to find some local (Oz & NZ) papers & stamps. Cross your fingers for me. No point in buying anything there that I can get here in the US. They're much more expensive in NZ.

Very excited for you Pam! Of course there's a paper crafting event there...just for you. I bet you'll see some unusual things we don't get here. Have a wonderful, safe trip and take TONS of photos.

Pam. if you are only going to be on the North Island, try to drive out the Coromandel Peninsula for beautiful scenery and go to Rotorua for all the geothermal activity. The North Island is pretty but the South Island is spectacular!

Take warm clothes and hope for electric blankets where you are staying. It's like Australian winter only colder.

I’ve packed layers and Riz bought heaters for the bedrooms. The kids have been playing outside and it hasn’t rained all that much - yet. I hope we get to do some touring. Riz has been working non-stop. We hope that once I get there, he’ll take a couple of days off. Cara’s getting back into driving on the other side of the road again. I’m not so brave.

Last thing to pack. Taking Mia’s birthday presents along and just finished her card.

Pam your card is a winner.

Me too Marianne. I love cards that give you multiple surfaces to stamp on or whatever you like.
