Print Day in May
Print Day in May
Did you know the first Saturday in May is International Print Day? That's tomorrow.
I just learned this on Julie Balzer's blog. You can use your gelli plate, woodblocks, stamps, anything to make a print. My gelli plate arrived yesterday so I will be trying it out tomorrow!
Hope some others will join in. You can learn about participating at their blog below:

I just got lost in that Japanese paper link.... washi paper... gorgeous... and then it reminded me of the mulberry paper that we used to use way back when... gorgeous, fun stuff... and it's still available on Amazon.com ... would be fun to try some stamping techniques on mulberry paper or the washi paper... but... not buying anything else right now.. (said no scrapbooker, ever)

Ooooh, I really want to do this, this weekend if possible. I’ve been watching Birgit Koopsen’s YouTube videos for inspiration. Her videos are terrific. Search for her also on YouTube for her own videos, not just gel printing. She’s awesome.

remember all that handmade paper lots of us got from Beth's haul at the Creative Use It shop? I still have a lot of it, anyone else have some, it's awfully porous but we could experiment with it.nchoney wrote:I just got lost in that Japanese paper link.... washi paper... gorgeous... and then it reminded me of the mulberry paper that we used to use way back when... gorgeous, fun stuff... and it's still available on Amazon.com ... would be fun to try some stamping techniques on mulberry paper or the washi paper... but... not buying anything else right now.. Anyone who wants mulberry paper let me know. I still have several big sheets of it hanging on my oversized papers rack.

That mulberry paper makes lovely envelopes. I have used it for that, then put inside a more mailable envelope. It’s a nice surprise for the recipient.
Heck I remember going to paper making classes and making mulberry-like paper. Didn’t everyone have one of those wood frames with screens for making your own paper? Sold mine years ago.

Yes, Farley, I still have the screens for papermaking and also lots of paper pulp ready to reconstitute when the urge to make paper happens again!

I have the whole shebang for making paper too
