Why it’s called a challenge (June 2019)
Why it’s called a challenge (June 2019)
I challenged everyone at re(create) to step outside the box and make a page with lots of layers. The pages created blew me away! The class went very quickly and still, the pages were just beautiful!
Here’s a similar challenge but you get to choose the page design. The challenge is to use ALL the items on the list. We were gone all day so I haven’t made my kit yet. I’ll do my best to get my page done and posted tomorrow.
The List -
1 Black & White patterned paper
3 other patterned papers
2 sizes of letter stickers
Word strips
Die cuts or punches
Stamp (rubber or clear - not postage stamps!)
Camera image
Enamel dots and/or wood veneer
Ink or mist
Handwritten journaling
Yes you can use more papers and letter stickers!

First off thought...That's a lot of items!
I'll give it a try, I promise.

I was just sitting here wondering if you had notes for your layering class Pam. This challenge reminds me of one I used to give myself a lot, so I'd make pages with more interest and use up my stash. I'd pick a random number and challenge myself to use that many different types of Things on my page. I could use multiples of the same Thing, i.e. printed diecuts or enamel dots, but they only counted as one Thing. Typically the background sheet and photos didn't count - which meant I had to get creative with my embellishing.

Just printed the list. This might be the kick start I need.

Terrific challenge. I’m pretty sure I have all those items in multiples.

I don’t have notes, sorry. I gave a product list and then we used a very basic page sketch. At the end, I showed some other pages I made using the same idea. I hope it was a good example of how different each layout looked even though we used the same sketch.Keitha wrote:I was just sitting here wondering if you had notes for your layering class Pam. Page Maps has some good examples of pages using almost all of the list.

I DID IT...FINISHED. WHEW.
The hardest part was finding black and white pattern paper.

Oh Pat! It’s so beautiful! I just love it!
Now I’ve got to get my act together and at least pull my supplies together.

Pat, your page is just wonderful! I love the papers and colors you chose and Gracie was such a beautiful girl.
This is definitely a difficult challenge for me, but I'm going to see if I can do it.

Thank you Pam and Sue.
This was out of my comfort zone, but it did not turn in to a difficult challenge. It helped to have the list of items and a good sketch. I could never think up something with lots of layers.
I used OLD Anna Griffin paper.

Pat, that's a gorgeous page! I shy away from black and white patterns but you've certainly done them justice here.
Re: Why it’s called a challenge (June 2019)
A beautiful tribute to Gracie.

None of this is what I had in mind when I made up the list for the challenge. Funny how that happens.
Does anyone remember the Heidi Grace brand? I’ve had that black and white floral in my stash for so long. As I flipped through my black papers, I thought okay, use it or lose it.
