2019 June Card Challenge - Stencils - Sample #1 and #2

Post by paddlegal »

I’ve got a bug to work with stencils. I have piles of stencils...new ones and oldies from CS days.

So, let’s experiment and see how many ways to use our stencils. There’s inking, spraying, gelatos, gel plates, pastes and more. Use as many different stencils as you wish and try 3 different methods of stenciling.

As you can see I have no samples yet. I too want to get grubby and experiment. Be back soon when I’ve got a few done.

And sorry for being late. It’s those birds keeping me busy.

Here is my first sample. A CP stencil spritzed with Dylusions. CP stamps also...and no this isn’t my card for the “drinks” card swap. :D

I really like this card! I have so many die cuts of coffee cups and never know what to do with them. Thanks for the inspiration!

I used 2 stencils on this card (which looks much better IRL). I used mists but sprayed too closely and the mist went under the stencil (lesson learned) but the two mists (different brands) resisted each other so that was pretty cool (another lesson learned. Then I actually opened and used my Nuvo Mousse. I bought it almost a year ago - or maybe 2 years ago? How sad is that?

PamC your card is a stunner! I love the dimensional stenciling of the stars. Beautiful.

I’ve got another one in the works and hope to post it tonight.

One more card sample tonight. I blended 3 Catherine Pooler purple inks in this stencil and love how well they worked together. The metallic papers are Tim Holtz and the sentiment is from Tonic. I think this could be used for a guy card in spite of all the purple.

That’s amazing Farley! Really outstanding. The purple works so well with the metallic paper - quite regal looking.

Great cards, Farley and Pam! I love the versatility of stencils and am guilty of owning but not using them. Will see what I can perhaps come up with.

In my die sorting, I came across some more stencils that I had ordered and haven't even inked up yet.... so I may do this challenge soon... just so I can get 'em inky!!
Plus... need to start thinking about the craft fair this fall. Time to make a bunch of backgrounds and then turn them into cards later.
