holiday sneaks

Post by Monica »

Not that we need them, but I'm starting to see glimpses of the holiday lines for Halloween and Christmas. The best part, in my opinion, is that the ones I've seen for Christmas have gone back to the more traditional green and red, with white, cream, beige, brown, and/or black accents. The mint green and pink seem to have vanished! Now if we could just get a grownup line for Halloween. All I've seen thus far are very juvenile-looking in my eyes.

I haven't done any peeking yet.... maybe I'll peek after I get one of my overdue Christmases scrapped. Is that motivation or torture? LOL

Thanks, Monica. I like that Kringle & Co. kit. Mostly I wish the companies would be more creative in the words and phrases they use. It's the same thing over and over.

I agree, Marianne... I know the holidays are full of their normal icons and phrases... but I guess I've been scrapping for so long that I have more than enough pages with the normal repetitive stuff on them... and I'm also not scrapping photos with little kids in them so more papers with the simplistic repetitive graphics on them are not stressing out my checkbook at all... I'm easily avoiding spending money on them. I may just start using some of the zillion stamps I own and scrapping the holidays on cardstock for a while. It just feels like the early 2000s again... and that's when I was drawn to Club Scrap.... the graphics were for grownups and the cardstock was substantial... sturdy... and of course I still have a couple Christmas kits I haven't used yet because I'm so far behind.... but I'll have to keep an eye out for what may come next :-)

No little children here, and I've never cared for "cutesy" anyway. As for the repetitive graphics, I find that I'm relegating a lot of them to the background these days or only using a little of them. Black is a color that I've never associated with Christmas, and I have some of it that I really don't know what to do with. It's languishing until I can find a good use for it since it's not particularly Christmasy to me.

I must say, however, that the Muttcracker does kind of appeal to my funny side.

I agree, Pam. Muttcracker is cute but I prefer a more traditional look. Like black, I've never enjoyed pink for Christmas. I guess (pink) it's too Victorian for me.

None of it appeals to me, to be honest. And since I don't actually need any Halloween or Christmas papers given what I have in my stash, I'll simply be saving money. ;)

I figure as long as I have black, purple, green and orange paper and Halloween stamps and dies then I'm good.

I'm with you on those kits. Since I don't scrap any more I'm just interested in the papers and I don't want those cutsie things.

I’m curious - what words/phrases would you like to see instead? I never can think of anything else and end up using the same thing over and over.
